I had high hopes for Morocco as i love the food and have always loved radically different cultures...Marrakech was entered with trepidation due to a few unsavoury reports and at first it really felt like Bali (my first love)...but it certainly didn't turn out like Bali
It wasnt that i didnt enjoy being there but the constant hasseling, extreme heat (with lack of open water) and interesting smells start to wear thin after a couple of nights...
The best thing about Morocco was the night market, though filled with the above annoyances, had such an incredible energy- everything from monkeys, to snakecharmers, crazy restauranters and delicious 20cent orange juices
Mint tea was delightful
Our hostel, the Riad Marrakech Rouge was located just out of the main square, down a few windy backstreets.
The colourful walls and gorgeous tiling were beautiful, and the free breaky and helpful staff made our stay very pleasant.
There were however some key pitfalls that have caused us to change our plans for our second stay in Marrakech...1 shower for the whole hostel didnt suffice; no fans or ac meant i had 3 sleepless nights and beds which felt like sandbags were the final straw
Overall a 6.5 out of 10

Unfortunately we were very ready to head off to the seaside town of essaouira for a more relaxed, chilled out week
