where has the time gone?

Now why do you think it is that when ever you're having a slow money month, you spend more than ever?

This has been my situation lately, filling my boredom void with things and dinners and outings...not than i'm complaining!

These are my latest 'things'; the most scrumptious pair of suede ankle boots from Country Road and chambray shirt and maxi skirt from Supre...finally got that chambray shirt I've wanted for so long: perfect shade, great fit and a bargain!

P.S. 100 posts!

Somers...

Today I continued the rediscovery of my home town, with a trip with mum down to the beach-side town of Somers.

Lunch was spent at the gorgeous Somers General Store, which overlooks Western Port Bay and includes a view all the way to French Island.

(that puppy almost came home with me!)

Amazing Asos

New hat and dress received from Asos last week...can now tick the wide-brimmed hat off my list...though I wouldn't mind one in camel...

never too early for a sweater

Just a couple of snaps from the weekend...

Firstly, a couple of purchases from a Friday shopping trip with mum at Chadstone...and I know it's not quite the season for a sweater (though yesterday was uncharacteristically chilly), but we couldn't resist these open knits from Country Road

Shoes are from Witchery, with the ballet flat made from the softest, crinkly blush-coloured leather

Sunday was spent in Barwon Heads, on the western side of Port Philip Bay, however these shots were taken in Sorrento after we were delayed catching the ferry...

Found this gorgeous café at the end of the main street that was once a nursery...Mum fell in love with these fruit box-come-planter boxes, and has now sent out to find and create her own versions to finally house the veggie/herb garden she's always wanted...

'tis the season

Watching Entertainment Tonight today (yes i know, my life is very exciting) reminded me that Hollywood's ultimate night of glamour was just around the corner.

In honour of the biggest day in February (Valentines can get stuffed), I thought I'd share my favourite Oscars/awards show dresses from the last couple of years.

My all time favourite, Charlize Theron in Vera Wang...old school glamour in the most brilliant orange, with perfect hair and perfect accessories. Perfection!

Kate Winslet, at the 2002 Academy Awards, in Ben de Lisi...I just loved the rose detailing and bold colour...pretty sure I cut this photo out and stuck it in my school diary...

Such a difficult colour to put off but Michelle Williams, in Vera Wang, does it without batting an eyelid. Red lips were definitely a risk but I think it really works and suits the mood of the event.

I think I have a soft spot for flora detailing as Sandra Bullock in Marchesa also makes my list. The sequins play tricks on the eyes, alternating from gold to silver, but that's half the fun isn't it!

Not my favourite dress shape but the colour is a stand out (in Rodarte)! 2011 is Natalie's year and i'm anxious to see what she shows up in on the 27th, baby bump in tow!

Looking back over these now, I'm rather surprised that the majority of dresses are bold hues as I am a Melbournian black through and through!

Flower Power

Florist: (noun) One in the business of raising or selling flowers and ornamental plants.

I can say for sure that anyone who's job description encompasses the above is safe in their position, after I attempted to play flower arranging extraordinaire today.

With the vision of creating a wild flower poesy, I went through the garden picking mum's so-called 'weeds' (bar the cecile brunner roses) and haphazardly threw them together.

Unlike my mother, I'm not overly artistic but was trying my best....of course as soon as I stepped away to grab a camera, she jumped in and completed my masterpiece.

Nevertheless I'm happy with the results!
